Agua de Valencia

Agua de Valencia is the city's own cocktail: orange, cava and spirits, fresh and stronger than it tastes.

What goes into it

The traditional recipe combines:

  • Fresh orange juice
  • Cava
  • Vodka
  • Gin
  • A little sugar and plenty of ice

Where it comes from

The most common story places it in 1959 at Café Madrid in Valencia and credits Constante Gil with the idea. The proportions change from bar to bar.

Agua de Valencia at Ancestral

You'll find it among the special spritzes on our menu, next to Agua de los Dioses, our version with tropical fruit. It's a good first order if you're visiting and want to try something local.
